within my two and a half years of working there i've see my share of oddities; but the really bizarre occurred after the suicide of a guest.
i started working as a guest service runner which duties entail basically "running" needs and amenities up to guest rooms
(ex: toothbrush, extra towels, etc.)
another part of the job is collecting outgoing laundry the guest would like cleaned.
on my day off (and keep in mind this could have been me who experienced this) the runner covering my shift got a call to pick up laundry. as she got to the room, the bag of laundry was already hanging on the doorknob. as she got closer to the door to pick up the bag she heard soft moans...now when you work in a hotel, hearing women moan is an extremely common occurrence...so the runner paid no attention and was on her way.
when arriving back to the office, the runner checked the bag for it's contents only to find 3 or 4 of the "hotels towels" soaking wet.
now this is odd because you don't send out the hotel towels to a personal dry cleaner (who charges you for the process) when we wash and dry the towels in the hotel for free. weirded out but paid no further attention to the matter (cause we do have crazy requests in the hospitality biz) the runner mentioned nothing to the managers.
about two days later, the woman who was staying in the room was set to check out but did not. a few phone calls and knocks at the door with no answer later...the lock from the inside of the room was popped open and security found the woman dead.
she was completely naked except for a huge soaking wet t-shirt she had on.
under the bed they found a bottle of anti-freeze.
so back to the moaning...those weren't moans of ecstasy but rather moans of suffering. and to think that could have been me who would have heard that still gives me the creeps.
the authorities and family were contacted and the room was closed off for a few weeks to remove and replace everything from the bed to the carpeting.
when the room finally went back on the market a few weeks later, a newlywed couple checked in (not knowing of it's history) then immediately checked out of the hotel completely. the woman was frantically saying "that room has too much evil in it" and didn't even want another room.

since that, a lot of other eerie things have happened.
i stared working in "in room dinning" (room service) where i was delivering food to rooms. on one occasion, the hotel operator wrote down an order for me to deliver. it was quite a huge order to say the least.
it took me a while to set up and wait for the food to be made for this grandiose order. when i finally arrived at the room, i knocked several times and no one answered. the operator tried calling and still no answer. supposing that since the order was taking so long, the guest had made a quick trip out of the room. i then let myself in the the room to leave the food in there for their return. immediately upon entering the dark room i got a whiff of that "new carpet smell" and goosebumps shot up my arms and neck. i knew what room i was in and quickly left the food and the room all together.
several hours later the guest who were currently checked into that room returned to a surprising array of food they didn't order. i then had to go back up to retrieve the table (which had all the food untouched). when inquiring what went wrong with the operator, she swore she had a woman order all the food.
pure mistake?
OR
something else?
there are more eerie hotel ghost stories to come...
